DIVEPROVO BOAT DIVING
Our beautiful shoreline is protected by a continuous barrier reef. As a result, all the diving around Provo takes place from a boat. With our boat diving packages, we visit dive sites at different areas on the exterior of this reef system. Turks and Caicos scuba diving is all wall diving with some of the most spectacular and most often requested sites up to an hour boat ride away. The shortest boat ride is about 15 minutes. However, the distance of the reefs from major civilization accounts for its unspoiled beauty.
DIVE TOURS
Two Tank Boat Diving
Sites Visited: Two-tank and three-tank boat dives visit all the dive areas around Provo including Grace Bay, Northwest Point, West Caicos, French Cay, Pine Cay and Sandbore Channel. For divers taking advantage of a package, we try to rotate dives around all the areas so you get a taste of the variety Turks and Caicos scuba diving offers.
Departures: Divers depart at 8:30 am for the docks at Turtle Cove Marina for diving along Provo’s north shore and from our dock at the Caicos Marina and Shipyard (Long Bay), on the south side of the island, for trips to West Caicos and French Cay.
Two-Tank Return Times: Return times from two-tank dives can be any time between 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm depending upon the destination. The south side trips have the later return times.
Three-Tank Scuba Safari Return Times: Return times from three-tank scuba safaris are generally closer to 4:30 pm.
Refreshments: The new COVID-related protocols require all food served to be individually wrapped. We are currently offering Granola bars and soft drinks on all trips. A sandwich (cling wrapped) is also provided for longer days. We do have a cooler on board. Guests are free to use it should they wish to bring their own wrapped food.
Tanks and Gear: Tanks/weights/weight belts are already on the boat. If you are using Nitrox you will analyze the tanks at the boat. Your equipment it will be set up for you on the boat each day.
Three-Tank Scuba Safari
The Scuba Safari is a full-day trip for experienced divers only. Enjoy diving with a smaller group of like-minded keen divers to explore the deep walls of West Caicos or French Cay. Nitrox certification preferable as the third dive is always on Nitrox for a longer bottom time. (Nitrox certification is a quick, easy course, and well worth the investment for the avid diver, not only for extended bottom times but also for safety reasons). Don’t worry if you are not Nitrox certified our instructor will explain it’s use on the boat before the third dive.
These boat dive packages are for Certified Open Water divers or above, who have dived within the last year or participated in a refresher course and are comfortable in the water. Please contact us prior to making the booking if you have any concerns regarding your diving.

INSTRUCTION & DIVE COURSES
DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING (DSD)
Discover Scuba Diving, also known as the Resort Course, is a great way to try scuba diving. (No need to invest time studying just to find out diving is not for you.) For many people, this Course is the highlight of their vacation. Consequently, they go on to become certified and avid scuba divers. Let’s face it, what better place to try diving!
For a truly personalized experience, Dive Provo only allows a maximum ratio of 2 students per instructor during the open water dives. Similarly, we do not just one, but two dives, as part of the experience.
Not to worry if you are traveling with certified family members or friends. When it comes time for the 2-tank boat dive, you can all dive from the same boat. During the dive itself, it will be one on one with your instructor. However your companions can follow along as part of a buddy team or join the certified diver group.
If you enjoyed the dives, you can take additional Discover dives a second day for $249.00, or start planning your Open Water Diver Certification course!
Itinerary
Day One: Meet with your instructor in the afternoon for a brief lecture going over basic Do’s and Dont’s and then practicing skills in the swimming pool. This generally takes a couple of hours.
Day Two: The next morning, you go out on the regular boat dive trip. You will make 2 dives to a maximum depth of 40 ft under the supervision of your instructor.
You will:
-
Go over the scuba equipment you use to dive.
-
Learn how easy it is to move around underwater with your gear.
-
Find out what it’s like to breathe underwater.
-
Learn key skills that you’ll use during every scuba dive.
-
Have fun swimming around and exploring.
If you enjoyed the dives, you can take additional dives a second day for $249.00 or apply parts of the course toward an Open Water Diver Certification course!

OPEN WATER REFERRAL COURSES
Start your scuba instruction certification course at home with a local dive shop. You will do the academics with them in a classroom setting or utilizing E-Learning on-line and will learn all the required skills in their swimming pool. Your instructor will give you a Referral Form showing you have successfully completed all the skills. You can then complete your four open water training dives in the warm clear waters of Provo.
If you are completing PADI or SSI training your Dive Provo instructor will issue the certification. If you are completing dives for any other certifying agency (NAUI, SDI/TDI) we refer you back to your original instructor who will issue the certification. PADI and SSI divers can continue their diving education on vacation with Dive Provo.
If you have certified family or friends diving, you will be on the same boat. You, however, will be doing skills with your instructor and must stay with him/her. Following completion of the skills, there is still plenty of time to enjoy a dive and the scenery.

RESCUE DIVER COURSE
Padi Elearning Rescue Diver: a challenging, yet very rewarding course!
Scuba divers describe the PADI Rescue Diver course as the most challenging, yet most rewarding course they’ve ever taken. Why? Because you learn to prevent and manage problems in the water, and become more confident in your skills as a diver, knowing that you can help others if needed. During the course, you learn to become a better buddy by practicing problem solving skills until they become second nature. Plus, the course is just fun – it’s serious, but still allows for lots of laughter in between the focused learning.
